My Research

I’m a researcher living in London, who has recently completed my PhD with the University of Nottingham.

My PhD thesis was entitled ‘Social capital and public policy in the UK and Australia’. It looks at how Robert Putnam’s theory of social capital has been used by New Labour in the UK and the Paul Keating and John Howard governments in Australia. My approach is drawn from the post-structural discourse theory of Laclau and Mouffe, and involves tracing the ideas through policy areas of education, the third sector, health, community development, local government and the economy.

I’m interested in working on research in all of these fields.  Leave a comment or email me if you are interested and want to know more.
